Overview

Traits are passives that sit on a unit card and multiply its stats, and they are one of two rerollable systems alongside grades. A unit holds exactly one trait at a time, which makes the choice consequential, and the top tier is rare enough that each all-round trait has a very low roll chance. See the best traits guide.

Traits Tier List Walkthrough

The video below ranks traits in the game from a player's perspective, which is a useful cross-check on the ordering here. Watch which stats they prioritise for an income plot versus a tower lineup, since the two goals weight traits differently. Pair it with our grades guide.

Full Trait Ranking

The ranking below follows the multiplier each trait applies and the number of stats it touches. All-round traits that raise income, damage and health at once sit above single-stat traits, because they improve both your plot earnings and your tower performance with one slot. See the reroll guide for how to spend limited tickets.

TierTraitStat Buffs
STranscendent15x Income, Damage and Health
SMonarch8x Income, Damage and Health
SShogun5x Income, Damage and Health
SSamurai3x Income, Damage and Health
AMoney III2x Income
ADamage III2x Damage
AHealth III2x Health
BMoney II1.5x Income
BDamage II1.5x Damage
BHealth II1.5x Health
CMoney I1.2x Income
CDamage I1.2x Damage
CHealth I1.2x Health
Top-tier traits each carry a less than one percent roll chance. Do not reroll a working S-tier hoping for a marginally better one.

What Each Tier Is For

Tier placement maps onto what to do with the trait rather than just how good it is. An all-round passive transforms a unit, a tier-three single-stat passive is a solid keeper, and the low tiers are placeholders to be replaced. The unit tier list helps decide which units deserve the good ones.

S Tier

All-round multipliers on the rarest roll chance in the game.

A Tier

Double a single stat, the best realistic outcome for most rolls.

B Tier

Half again on one stat, useful on starter and mid units.

C Tier

Small single-stat boosts, replace once tickets allow.

The single-stat tier three traits are the realistic target for most accounts, since the all-round tier is genuinely rare.

Why All-Round Beats Single-Stat

A trait raising three stats at once beats one raising a single stat by a comparable amount, because a unit can only hold one trait. That makes the all-round passives the strongest slot for any unit you intend to keep. See the unit tier list for which units deserve them.

The exception is specialisation. If a unit exists only to sit on a pad, an income-only trait at the highest available multiplier can be perfectly adequate, and it frees you from spending rare rerolls chasing an all-round. Our best traits guide covers the cases where each approach wins.

Choosing What to Reroll

Reroll tickets are limited, so which unit receives them matters more than the reroll itself. Reroll only units already producing a meaningful share of your plot income, since a trait's value scales with the base it multiplies. The best traits guide has targets.

It is also worth stopping at good enough. Because the all-round tiers sit under one percent, chasing a marginally better trait on a unit that already holds a strong one burns tickets you could spend elsewhere. Set a target tier for each unit in advance, and stop the moment you reach it. The reroll guide covers the discipline.

A final consideration is timing. Rolling a batch of new units first and then deciding where tickets go avoids the common situation of spending a reroll on a unit that a better pull replaces an hour later. The farming guide covers batch rolling and how to inspect a full backpack.

Where Traits Come From

Traits are rolled at the trait station using Trait Rerolls, which come from a small number of sources. Because the supply is limited and a misclick is not refundable, knowing every source matters more here than almost anywhere else in the game. The codes page lists the current rewards that grant them.

  • Redeeming active codes that award Trait Rerolls
  • Clearing waves in the tower challenge
  • Claiming daily rewards
  • Remaining in your inventory indefinitely once earned
  • Never refunded, so reroll only on keepers
FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best trait in the game?

Transcendent currently leads, raising income, damage and health by fifteen times each. The other all-round traits follow at lower multipliers, and the single-stat tier three passives are the strongest realistic outcome for most players.

How many traits are there?

Thirteen documented traits, split across four tiers. Only one can be held by a unit at any time, so a trait change always overwrites whatever the unit had before, with no way to restore it.

What are the odds of rolling a top-tier trait?

Each of the all-round traits carries a roll chance under one percent. That is why reroll tickets are worth saving for units you have already decided to keep long term rather than spending on whatever is on screen.

Do traits stack with grades?

Yes, they are separate systems that multiply on top of each other and on top of the unit's rarity. That is why a well-rolled mid-rarity unit can out-earn a higher-rarity one with poor modifiers.

Should I reroll a common unit?

No. Trait Rerolls are limited and commons will be replaced rather than polished. Save tickets for epics and above, or for any unit that already earns a significant share of your plot income.

Where do trait rerolls come from?

Mainly from redeeming active codes, clearing tower waves and claiming daily rewards. They accumulate in your inventory indefinitely, so there is no pressure to spend them the moment you receive them.
